Roger's Info for
dark_desert_hwy rp game:
Birthday: 1 May 1978
Your character's name: Roger Davies
Your character's canon: Harry Potter
What type of canon is your character from? (eg, book, movie, tv show, etc): book
Roger's History: Roger Davies was Quidditch Captain for Ravenclaw House while attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He loved flying and playing, but he really loved coaching and leading too. His parents wanted him to take up more traditional and scholarly pursuits for a Ravenclaw, but they hadn't the money for a choice apprenticeship and Roger was recruited to play second string Chaser for a Scottish team right out of Hogwarts. He was glad for a job in his chosen field and set about learning the ins and outs of the Quidditch industry from broom design to team financial management to stadium construction. His teammates were satisfied to stay where they were, but Roger always had his eye out for the next big opportunity.
Over the years he played second Chaser for teams in Australia and Austria, was assistant trainer for teams in England and Europe and even spent a few months in the business office for the Ministry of Magic's Department of Magical Games and Sports. Then his big break finally came. A wealthy American wizard was starting a new Quidditch team and had hired Roger to play Starting Chaser. Roger packed his bags and portkeyed across the pond to America.
Roger's personality -
A true Ravenclaw, Roger prefers reading and studying above all things. He intensely focuses on every detail of every situation he finds himself faced with, learning all the facts of a situation before making any judgment. He's highly intelligent and extremely skilled in fine, detailed, exactingly delicate magic. He is also quite competitive, some might say, stubborn. This is perhaps due to his Scottish blood and heritage. Channeling his intense focus and stubbornness into learning every aspect of the game as well as the profession of Quidditch, Roger has his career all planned out. He doesn’t react well when his plans are disrupted by external circumstances.
He's quite personable and likable. He makes friends easily and is a natural team leader, at least amongst his peers. People with less intelligence might feel threatened by his manner, or feel he's talking down to them. But long term relationships are very few and far between for Roger. It's as though people are attracted to the intensity and focus, but then grow weary of it. It's a common complaint among his ex-girlfriends. "He's just too intense!" They perhaps feel challenged to rise to his level of intensity in living life fully at every moment. He has yet to meet anyone who is up to it.
What is the point of your character's canon in which you are introducing your character?: He's 26 in 2004 and been working in the International Quidditch Leagues for the last 8 years since graduating Hogwarts. Lord Voldemort was vanquished several years previous in 1998, and in any case impinged very little on Roger's world.
Roger's initial personal inventory:
Wood trunk of clothes
Wood trunk of books
Professional Edition Quasar Quidditch broom
Wand
Wallet
Picture of his family
Picture of Fleur Delacour
Picture of Cedric Diggory
Small brass statue of Nike

Hotel California
On a dark desert highway
Cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas
Rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance
I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy, and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself
This could be Heaven or this could be Hell
Then she lit up a candle
And she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor
I thought I heard them say
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely place (background)
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year
Any time of year (background)
You can find it here
You can find it here
Her mind is Tiffany twisted
She's got the Mercedes bends
She's got a lot of pretty, pretty boys
That she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard
Sweet summer sweat
Some dance to remember
Some dance to forget
So I called up the Captain
Please bring me my wine
He said
We haven't had that spirit here since 1969
And still those voices are calling from far away
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely Place
Such a lovely Place (background)
Such a lovely face
They're livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise
What a nice surprise (background)
Bring your alibis
Mirrors on the ceiling
Pink champagne on ice
And she said
We are all just prisoners here
Of our own device
And in the master's chambers
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives
But they just can't kill the beast
Last thing I remember
I was running for the door
I had to find the passage back to the place I was before
Relax said the night man
